Internships: State Department

The State Department Internship Program is open to Junior, Senior, and Graduate students in good academic standing and who are U.S. Citizens. Internships are available in about two dozen bureaus/offices, are primarily unpaid positions, and are offered for Summer/Fall.

These internships are primarily unpaid and most are positioned in the Washington, D.C. area (some positions are international ones).

The guidelines offered in the Internship Program bulletin indicate that the bureaus require a variety of skills and academic backgrounds, so they do not limit their selections of interns to specific majors.
